Sergeant Brad "Iceman" Colbert is the Team Leader of Team 1 of the 2nd Platoon of the First Recon Battalion Marines :D Played by the amazing♥ Alexander Skarsgård, Colbert is the predominant player in
Generation Kill.
Nicknamed "Iceman" for his calm demure even in the face of danger, Brad Colbert is a confident, skilled, experienced marine who is respected by his peers. The alphamale of the group, his smarts and readiness make him a great leader. As such, Brad cares for his colleagues, taking blame and striving to get them equipment they need but don't have, as well as certain items they just plain want in the midst of their horrible conditions.
On the
HBO video, the real Colbert says, "being a marine is all I've ever wanted to do since I was a boy. {...] it's not something I can really put my finger on. I don't know if it's an altruistic desire to serve or if it's the attraction that the Marine Corps presents with all of the travel and training and adventure- it's probably a combination of a lot of things."
Whatever the reason, Brad Colbert is the kind of person you want out there. How real Skarsgård's depiction is is up for discussion but his portrayal of a deft soldier with a sharp wit and even sharper mind makes Colbert one of my favorites.
